Detox (organic)

[picture of tea to go here, when the damn thing decides to load]

Ingredients: certified Fair Trade rooibos, sencha, lemongrass, ginger, juniper berries, ginko, natural lemon flavouring.

I was going to leave a review until tomorrow to write because my stomach feels really gross right now. Then I thought, hey! I can tell everyone about the tea I use whenever I feel like crap! So, I'm going to do just that.
Now, I usually modify this with honey, nettle leaf, and chamomile -you know, for a real punch to my illness- but I will just add honey, after an initial taste description.

Steeped for five minutes, sometimes a little longer -again, that punch.

Tons of rooibos-y goodness. Only slight undertones of ginger and lemongrass, which I find fantastic because I can't stand either flavours. It really doesn't taste like your typical "wellness" type tea, it just tastes like a delicious and hearty rooibos .

Honey really isn't necessary at all with this tea, but I add it for extra flavour and because honey is pretty awesome. It also makes everything go down just a little more smoothly.

I think that this is a tea that everyone should have in their house. Upset stomachs are common, and you can definitely be prepared with this delicious tummy-soother.

Happy steeping,

Organic Detox

*If you can't handle talk of bodily functions, do not read past this. You have been warned.

So, we all know the winter months are basically time to eat nothing but desserts and rich yummy food.

Fancy kettle
But, with that rich food, extra sugar, extra yummy-ness comes some unfortunate side-effects for many of us. I get canker sores and break out something horrible. Also, sometimes my digestion doesn't agree with extra fatty or rich foods.
Being held up with a shoulder injury, keeping me from having my fun gym time/steam room time, hasn't helped at all. So I am breaking out and have a painful canker sore inside my left cheek. Also, some diarrhea this past week hasn't made me feel super great. So, starting December 30th (yes, I pre-typed this on the 31st), I've been enjoying my detox tea from DavidsTea.

Before I got my fancy tea kettle from my wonderful MIL-to-be, I wasn't too fond of this tea. It tasted bitter and kinda gross. But after...oh man. AFTER, this tea is beautiful. Being steeped for the right amount of time AND the right temperature made all the difference for me.
Stanley

I use one of DavidsTea perfect spoon, which I got from my lovely tea sister, Kayla for Christmas!) I steep it for about 3 minutes, over a minute less than what the tin says, and on the 'green tea' setting on my tea kettle (175 F). Then, I let it sit under Stanley (my tea cozy, which I got for Christmas from here) for a few minutes, until I want a cup.

It tastes smooth and earthy, and you can taste a hint of juniper berry popping through. The smoothness of the rooibos and the green tea just sing for me. I can't really taste the ginger, which is nice since honestly, if I wanted to taste ginger I'd have a ginger tea.

I drink about 3 to 4 cups of the stuff a night. After one night my facial acne is clearing up, the acne between my boobs is a little better, but my shoulders are about the same. My digestion is working on it.

Warning, you will pee and probably have a bowel movement within 12 hours of drinking it. Not diarrhea though.

Much love and digestion congestion corrections!

Gingerbread

Gingerbread from DavidsTea
Ingredients:  Rooibos, green rooibos, honeybush, cinnamon, currants, crystalized ginger, pineapple, safflower petals, natural and artificial flavouring

The Christmas teas continue!

It is FREEZING outside. Inside pictures only
Gingerbread. DavidsTea was really excited about this one when they announced it, claiming it took a lot of work to perfect the taste of gingerbread. Laura seemed unimpressed and even gave me her bag. But it smells like rooibos and a freshly baked gingerbread cookie, so I'm pretty excited.
Here we go...

I steeped it for 6 minutes, since it suggested 5-7, and like I said, it smells pretty damn good.

It tastes exactly the way that it smells. I can see how it would taste kind of nasty if you did it for too long (I wouldn't go past 7 minutes, myself), but I'm just not getting the overbearing molasses flavour that Laura has warned me about.
I'm actually really enjoying it. It could be that I got a lucky spoonful that got me the perfect combination of the bits, but I am definitely keeping what I have!

Gingerbread tastes like a gingerbread cookie with a side of rooibos.
I'm impressed. It's worth trying, but be conservative in your first purchase until you are sure that it is for you. Unless you are getting for someone else...

This one seems to be a bit of a gamble.

You can get really adorable little tins of the gingerbread, or get a set of tea filled tin Christmas tree ornaments for great gifts! Though, I can not find the ornaments on the online store anymore... Hm

Oh, yes. and HURRY! DT says this tea and the other "Holiday" labeled teas could be gone by the mid this month!! MADNESS!

Good luck with your shopping.

Give many a great tea gift!

Happy Steeping!

Organic Le Digestif

Let me start out with saying, I feel really quite gross right now.
A headache, some nausea, major heartburn. Basically like a big bag of dicks.

Hence the Le Digestif tea. A warning, if you don't like TMI things, don't read this review. This tea is literally a blend to help you stop feeling sick, so that's what I'm talking about. I didn't want to review this tea when I felt GOOD, because I wanted to talk about the magic in REAL TIME.

Le Digestif has a bunch of fun things that can make you feel better. Best part? It actually works. And it's bedtime safe since, yay, no caffeine!
With catnip, fennel seed, ginger root, peppermint, orange peel, stevia leaf...you get the picture. It's a blend to make a tummy feel good and, I find, a head stop hurting.

Ginger root for nausea, gas, stomach cramps and heartburn.
Catnip for headaches, and tummy troubles.
Fennel for pain and fever reducing, as well as, you guessed it, tummy troubles.
Peppermint for gas and bloating (this is really helpful for painful gas buildups), and I find it helps with headaches as well.

It literally has all the natural powerhouses of tummy relief.

I personally find that, although Pepto works it can make me a little constipated. As someone who will get heartburn at the drop of a hat, and if I ever need to take antibiotics I MAJORLY risk disrupting my intestines natural flora, causing bloating and gas build up. Which hurts. It literally makes it so that breathing is hard.
So, chugging Pepto...that would not be fun.

It tastes like ginger and fennel. The peppermint leaves a nice fresh feeling in your mouth, which is really nice if you're feeling gross. It also helps take away that gross taste heartburn leaves behind. The stevia adds some sweetness. Per 4 cup pot, I put 1.5 tbsp and steep for 6ish minutes.
I honestly do like it's flavor. Some people won't, especially those that hate ginger, but it is very worth it if you feel like shit.
I mean, don't drink an entire fucking pot in one go. 4 cups will make you feel a little water-logged if you drink it in a short period of time. Have a cup, wait 10 minutes. Have a cup, wait, and so on and so forth until you're finish.

In the...hour or so it's taken me to write this up, I've started to feel better. (shhhh I kept getting distracted)

My heartburn is almost gone, my headache has been halved, my nausea is gone.

.

Skål and I hope everyone doesn't feel gross.
